Daniel D'Aniello

Daniel A. D’Aniello is a Co-Founder and Chairman of The Carlyle Group, a global alternative asset management company headquartered in Washington D.C. and operating in 35 offices in North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.with over $188 billion in assets under management.

Prior to forming Carlyle in 1987, Mr. D’Aniello was a Vice President for Finance and Development at Marriott Corporation. Prior to Marriott, Mr. D’Aniello was a financial officer at PepsiCo, Inc. and Trans World Airlines.  He is a 1968 magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University, where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, and a 1974 graduate of the Harvard Business School, where he was a Teagle Foundation Fellow.

In 2003, he and some Catholic business leaders founded Lumen Institute, whose purpose is “to form business leaders and transform culture.” Fr. John considers his work with Catholic businessmen to have been a definite “calling” for him and “an enormous blessing.”

Mr. D’Aniello is a member of the U.S.–China CEO and Former Senior Government Officials’ Dialogue of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; the Council for United States and Italy; the John Templeton Foundation; Vice Chairman of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Research; Chairman of the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts; on the Board of Trustees of Syracuse University, the Chancellor’s Council, and the Corporate Advisory Council to the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
