Fr. David Barton, LC grew up in Louisville, KY and decided to attend the Legionaries’ high school seminary (apostolic school) in New Hampshire. After graduating from high school, he entered the Novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ and subsequently continued his studies and formation for the priesthood in Canada, Connecticut, New York, and Rome, which included studies in the classical liberal arts, systematic philosophy, and theology. Fr. David holds a Licentiate Degree in Philosophy and Bachelor’s Degree in Theology.
Prior to his ordination, he spent a number years on internship working with youth in California, both in southern California and the Bay Area. Fr. David was ordained a priest in Rome in December 2014 and spent the first three years of his priesthood serving as chaplain to the middle school of Pinecrest Academy in Atlanta, GA and as the national director for the boys’ Regnum Christi Mission Corps (RCMC) program, a national youth volunteer program.
After spending two years serving the NY Tri-State as assistant chaplain to the Men’s and Women’s Regnum Christi Section as well as assisting at the Basilica of Saint Patrick’s Old Cathedral in SoHo Manhattan, Fr David has been named as Parochial Vicar at Resurrection Parish in Rye NY, where he has served the local church for the past year and a half. He has also served as chaplain to the Lumen Fellows in Manhattan during his time in the city and is now chaplain to the Rye Lumen circle.
